Levodopa ,the amino-acid precursor of dopamine,acts by replenishing depleted striatal dopamine;it's given with extracerebral dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor that reduces the peripheral conversion of levodopa to dopamine,thereby limiting side-effects such as nausea,vomiting and cardiovascular effect
